General Information:

  • Notification of Coaches and training will be given after trials. Usually all grades will have at least 1 training, coaches will notify team players.
  • All teams must have a nominated Manager. Caregivers/Parents will be asked to be managers. Teams cannot play without a manager.
  • Uniform: Basketball has seen a huge growth in the last 2 years. We are unable to supply uniforms for all teams. Teams that play in the North Harbour Competition will be supplied with uniforms. Teams that play in the Hibiscus Coast Basketball Association - we will supply as many teams as we can - students will be able to play in their PE uniforms if we do not have enough. There will be more information on uniforms closer to the time.
  • All players need to wear a mouthguard, this is a non-negotiable rule of all competitions.
  • Parents/caregivers need to make themselves available for transporting and for Score Bench duties. Managers of teams will help organise this, with rosters.
  • If students choose to bring any valuable items they must always have them on their person as Orewa College accepts no responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged items.
  • We remind you that involvement in extracurricular activities is available to those who have cleared their account from extra-curricular 2023. Students' attendance and pastoral records are also considered when representing Orewa College.
  • Students are all representing Orewa College in these competitions, and we have high expectations of students’ behaviour. Students are to up-hold all the Manaaki Orewa values in which the school represents. Students, who let us and themselves down in this area, are putting their continued involvement in school sports at risk. We look forward to positive experiences where students can enhance their experiences in school sports. All players must also respect and uphold North Harbour and Hibiscus Coast Basketball Association rules.

Transport:

Van hirer may be available for some Harbour teams, and this will be reflected in their fees. It is the responsibility of all others to find their way down to the game. Parents transporting other students must make arrangements with parents of those students. Managers if you are asking parents to help out with transport you must visibly see WOF and Registration and Driver's Licence. Where possible it would be good if all parents filled out driver forms and police vetting forms, here at the College so you may be able to help with transportation.

Police Vetting:

All coaches and managers must be police vetted - please if you are not, can you follow the link below. Orewa College will pay for this.
