Learning

Orewa College offers an integrated and inclusive learning environment for Years 7 to 13. Courses are designed to stimulate the students' intellectual development and prepare for progress to the next level. Our Academic Programme ensures a seamless progression from Middle School to the Senior School. Students have the opportunity to enrol in online e-learning courses and to extend their knowledge and independent learning skills through digital technology.

Effective teaching and curriculum delivery at Orewa College is based on practices that are well researched and aligned across the school community. Two key programmes Ako Orewa and Manaaki Orewa which determine the way that the school delivers the New Zealand curriculum and achieves its mission statement.  It is our belief that through understanding the learning process, self-knowledge can lead to success for every student as they develop the confidence and skills to be a life-long learner.

All students study towards the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA)  as well as other industry based national qualifications. Student achievement is regularly monitored and data indicates that significant value is added to students’ learning. Our NCEA results put us on a par with other coeducational Decile 9 schools and place us well above the national average for Level 1-3 NCEA and University entrance.
